Pertenece al Sistema Nacional de Investigadores desde 2014. Su investigaci\u00f3n doctoral titulada\u00a0<em>Fonolog\u00eda hist\u00f3rica del otom\u00ed. Escritura alfab\u00e9tica y representaci\u00f3n segmental, siglos XVI-XIX<\/em>, fue galardonada por el INAH con el Premio Wigberto Jim\u00e9nez Moreno correspondiente al \u00e1rea de Ling\u00fc\u00edstica en 2014. Actualmente es Profesor Investigador Titular B de la Direcci\u00f3n de Ling\u00fc\u00edstica del Instituto Nacional de Antropolog\u00eda e Historia (INAH).
